Welcome to Farnsfield Pre-School
We would like you to come and visit Pre-School to help you to get a feel for how things are done here. Come along one morning/afternoon and the staff will be pleased to show you around.
How is Farnsfield Pre-School organised?
In 1970 a group of mums in the village collected together some toys and met with their children for two mornings a week in the village centre. Since 1972 we have rented the old Methodist School Rooms, and the original Playgroup has grown into a fully-staffed and well-equipped organisation, which prides itself on maintaining a warm and friendly environment in which children can play and learn.
We welcome children aged 2½ - 5. Our aim is for all children in our environment to feel safe and valued, with our objectives being that children should develop independence, social skills and knowledge through play.
We offer childcare from 9.00am – 3.00pm Monday to Friday, during school terms. Early Years funding is available for up to 15 hours per week from the term after your child’s 3rd birthday.
The Pre-School is run by a voluntary Management Committee of parents who ensure that Pre-School stays rooted in our community and reflects the needs of the children.
The Pre-School is non-profit making and is financed entirely through fees and fundraising events.
We belong to the Early Years Alliance (Membership No: 11681) and benefit from their training and excellent resource materials. Our insurance cover is also arranged through them.
We are registered with Nottinghamshire County Council Social Services Under Eights Unit as a Full Day Care Facility, under The Children Act 1989
We are also registered with The Department for Education as a provider of Nursery Education (Reg No. 509224). As such, we are subject to regular Ofsted inspections, which thoroughly examine the quality of Pre-School sessions in terms of learning outcomes.
We open from 9.00am till 3.00pm Monday to Friday during term times. You can book a morning (9 am till 12 noon) or afternoon (12 noon till 3pm) session or a full day to suit your needs.
Current cost is £12 per 3 hour session.
Children are entitled to claim 15 hours (5 sessions) per week from the start of the term after their 3rd birthday. If you are claiming the extended entitlement (up to 30 hours funding), this starts the term after you made your claim. Further details can be found at:
All new bookings are subject to a one-off £20 admin fee to secure your place, once your sessions are confirmed.
More information is available in our prospectus on our 'Downloads' page.
